Design Meanings is a book series of international publications in English and German that gathers contributions to the international discourse and critical reflections on the practice of design in its various forms, including Design Research, Design Theory, Design Studies, Design Anthropology, Design Philosophy and Epistemology, Social Design, Design Politics, Design Methodology or Design History.
Aiming to introduce to the readers contemporary and advanced theoretical perspectives, the series includes two kinds of publication formats: monographies (authored by one or more authors) and contributed volumes (coordinated by one or more authors). Both formats address specific topics, academic and cross-disciplinary debates from within the design disciplines, as well as from other knowledge disciplines relevant to design. Design Meanings is intended for professionals and scholars in the realm of design as well as those in the social sciences and philosophy, the arts, and natural sciences.
The contributions collected in this series enter into an interdisciplinary dialogue towards design and provide theoretical and methodological approaches to understanding the various, e.g. social, cultural or political functions of design. Design Meanings is realized in collaboration with the Design Research Lab from the University of Trento. www.drlab.unitn.it
